Heap-O-Livin' présente une sélection d'images réalisées par la photographe et diariste du Wyoming Lora Webb Nichols (1883-1962). Nichols a créé et collectionné environ 24 000 négatifs et 65 ans de journaux intimes tout au long de sa vie dans la ville d'Encampment.
Outre les aspects industriels et économiques de cette ville peu peuplée, dédiée à l'élevage et à l'exploitation minière du cuivre, les images et les journaux intimes de Lora documentent la vie des filles et des femmes au sein des foyers privés.
Malgré l'isolement inhérent à la géographie, les hivers longs et rigoureux et l'idéologie patriarcale qui sous-estimait le rôle des femmes à Encampment à la fin du XIXe et au début du XXe siècle, une communauté solide dirigée par des femmes a émergé, offrant un réseau de soutien spirituel et émotionnel. Ce réseau s'est développé grâce aux visites habituelles des membres de la famille immédiate et élargie et des amis dans les foyers les uns des autres pendant leur transition de l'enfance à la vie de femme et de mère. Dans l'entourage de Nichols, ces visites s'accompagnaient souvent de séances photo.
Lora photographiait leurs tâches de mères et de femmes au foyer, mais elle prenait également des clichés qui révélaient le plaisir qu'elles éprouvaient à simplement être en compagnie les unes des autres.

Shipping
We ship from Wednesday to Saturday (except public holidays and annual closures).
An estimate of the delivery time is indicated when ordering. A shipment confirmation as well as a parcel tracking number will be sent to you by email when the parcel is picked up by the carrier.
The average times indicated do not constitute a strict deadline. LE BAL Books cannot be held responsible in the event of a late delivery.
If all of the books ordered are not in stock at the bookstore and you wish to receive the first part of your order, a delivery in two times is possible.
We deliver all over the world with the following carriers: La Poste, Chronopost, Colissimo, Mondial-Relay.

Pick up
The free pick up of your order at the bookstore is available upon presentation of an identity document. Any order not collected from the shop within one month of payment will be automatically refunded.
Shipping fees
Shipping costs are calculated based on the chosen carrier, the weight and the delivery address of your package. Once your order is in your cart, you can have an estimate of the shipping costs offered by each transport service.
Return
Retraction possible within 7 days from receiving the order. The buyer is responsible for return shipping costs. Returned books must be in perfect condition. The bookstore reserves the right to refuse reimbursement of the books if this shouldn't be the case.
