« Âgée de trente-huit ans, alors qu'elle vivait à Chattanooga, dans le Tennessee, Rosalind Fox Solomon entama un nouveau départ dans sa vie de photographe. Après avoir étudié avec Lisette Model dans les années 1970, elle a affûté le style photographique qui caractérisera sa prodigieuse carrière d'une cinquantaine d'années. Après avoir emménagé dans un loft à New York en 1984 et voyagé en Équateur, en Inde, en Afrique du Sud, au Cambodge et ailleurs, elle est devenue célèbre pour ses photographies sans compromis de la vie quotidienne dans le monde entier.
Au cours de cette même période, Solomon réalise des autoportraits. Se servant de la photographie comme moyen d'introspection incessante, Solomon, durant cinq décennies, a étudié l'évolution de son corps vieillissant et a accueilli avec bienveillance l'éloignement que sa caméra lui procurait. A Woman I Once Knew réunit ces autoportraits ainsi que des textes supplémentaires de Solomon pour former une œuvre autobiographique unique, marquée par une combinaison ambitieuse d'images et de textes. Les écrits de Solomon évoquent les périodes de dépression et les expériences euphoriques vécues dans d'autres cultures qui ont marqué sa vie extraordinaire et forgé son empathie pour la photographie. Elles s'inscrivent dans un dialogue fécond et suggestif avec ses œuvres révélatrices. Ce volume offre un aperçu remarquable du travail d'une photographe qui a marqué son époque. The average times indicated do not constitute a strict deadline. LE BAL Books cannot be held responsible in the event of a late delivery.
If all of the books ordered are not in stock at the bookstore and you wish to receive the first part of your order, a delivery in two times is possible.

Pick up
The free pick up of your order at the bookstore is available upon presentation of an identity document. Any order not collected from the shop within one month of payment will be automatically refunded.
Shipping fees
Shipping costs are calculated based on the chosen carrier, the weight and the delivery address of your package. Once your order is in your cart, you can have an estimate of the shipping costs offered by each transport service.
Return
Retraction possible within 7 days from receiving the order. The buyer is responsible for return shipping costs. Returned books must be in perfect condition. The bookstore reserves the right to refuse reimbursement of the books if this shouldn't be the case.
