"Cet ouvrage rassemble, pour la première fois, l’intégralité de la série photographique Private Scenes dans laquelle nous découvrons une nouvelle dimension du travail de Masahisa Fukase, celle de l’artiste aux prises avec son médium. Ce corpus singulier se compose d’images dans lesquelles l’artiste s’insère lui-même. Comme l'explique le photographe : « Le moi qui voit est aussi le moi qui est vu. Chaque fois que je pointe le viseur, je suis également regardé. [...] Je suis arrivé à un point où je me demande comment j’apparais comme faisant partie intégrante de ce processus. Le sujet du regard est également son objet. » La série est composée de deux ensembles : Letters from Journeys qui présente les photographies prises en 1989 dans différentes villes du monde (Paris, Londres, Bruxelles, Anvers, etc.), et Private Scenes ‘92 qui se concentre sur son quotidien à Tokyo où désormais chaque tirage est réhaussé de peintures de couleur, devenant ainsi une œuvre unique.
Cette ultime série témoigne des questionnements de Fukase sur sa propre pratique de la photographie à la fin de sa vie, et de la place du photographe dans son œuvre, lorsque sujet et objet se chevauchent, évoquant également la pratique actuelle du selfie. Tomo Kosuga, directeur des Archives Masahisa Fukase, et Masako Toda, historienne de la photographie japonaise, explorent ce travail à travers deux essais."

Pick up
The free pick up of your order at the bookstore is available upon presentation of an identity document. Any order not collected from the shop within one month of payment will be automatically refunded.
Shipping fees
Shipping costs are calculated based on the chosen carrier, the weight and the delivery address of your package. Once your order is in your cart, you can have an estimate of the shipping costs offered by each transport service.
Return
Retraction possible within 7 days from receiving the order. The buyer is responsible for return shipping costs. Returned books must be in perfect condition. The bookstore reserves the right to refuse reimbursement of the books if this shouldn't be the case.
