"Depuis son adolescence, Eliot Nasrallah redoute l’idée d’un dernier voyage au pays de ses origines. L’instabilité politique et économique du Liban effraye, pour les « au revoir » qu’elle présage occasionner. Son grand-père et sa famille les ont faits, ces signes de la main, la crainte au bout des doigts d’un pays que l’on cède à sa destruction. Il connaît le manque et la disparition au travers de leurs histoires, l’inaccessibilité d’un lieu, l’ineffable impuissance, ces douleurs dans la poitrine quand ils les racontent.
Entre 2015 et 2019, Eliot photographie ses moments passés à Beyrouth. Les images pour extraire le réel, sortes de cailloux glissés dans la boîte à souvenir pour ne rien oublier, pour les avoir toujours et au-delà. Des morceaux, des extraits, des mondes tout entier. 2020, Beyrouth explose sous ses yeux pour la première fois. L’idée d’un dernier voyage n’en est plus une. Les bruits sont passés sous silence, quand résonnent les quelques mots de N. Ceux d’une mémoire qui s’efface, d’un pays, que la maladie tait peu à peu.
Aux jours suivants l’explosion, Eliot répète alors ce geste photographique, la crainte au bout des doigts d’une statue que le temps emporterait. L’image pour s’approcher de lui, doucement, dans les instants qu’ils leur restent. Le Liban est hors de portée, mais N. est encore là. Les allées et venues d’Eliot à son domicile s’accélèrent alors, il le sait, le quotidien qu’ils leur restent est précieux. La dernière visite narre ce lien étroit entre le Liban et N. Entre ces deux monuments que les images permettent à jamais de regarder. "
Cet objet nébuleux, imprimé en risographie et relié à l'écolière avec une tranche en pointe, rend compte d'une dualité entre la permanence de la photographie et l'éphémère de la mémoire, de la situation politique et économique d'un pays.

The average times indicated do not constitute a strict deadline. LE BAL Books cannot be held responsible in the event of a late delivery.
If all of the books ordered are not in stock at the bookstore and you wish to receive the first part of your order, a delivery in two times is possible.

Pick up
The free pick up of your order at the bookstore is available upon presentation of an identity document. Any order not collected from the shop within one month of payment will be automatically refunded.
Shipping fees
Shipping costs are calculated based on the chosen carrier, the weight and the delivery address of your package. Once your order is in your cart, you can have an estimate of the shipping costs offered by each transport service.
Return
Retraction possible within 7 days from receiving the order. The buyer is responsible for return shipping costs. Returned books must be in perfect condition. The bookstore reserves the right to refuse reimbursement of the books if this shouldn't be the case.
